Covid-19 Watch: 1,946 new cases bring total to 4,778,140


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,946 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Aug 29), says the Health Ministry.

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 1,945 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there was 1 imported case.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,778,140 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the active cases, 30,163 individuals or 95.5% are undergoing home quarantine, while 18 people (0.1%) were being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.2% of active cases or 1,312 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 75 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 50 required ventilator support.

A total of 8 deaths were recorded on Monday with no cases of brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,206.
